Heaven Is A Little Shop In Paris

I started searching halfway during our holiday in Europe. In the google search bar, I typed “vintage shops Paris France”. I just wanted to see my options. I’d already vowed not to purchase anything from my favorite stores (Zara, H&M, Topshop) because I didn’t need anything. Plus, this was one of the first flights were… Continue reading Heaven Is A Little Shop In Paris

Camels Aren’t Just For Riding

Following the previous blog post discussing the “it” colors in fashion right now, it would be crazy for us to forget how influential camel was in 2015….but will it be as popular in 2016?

——————————————————————————————————————————————–

I love colors that complement or enhance any outfit. Black is my all time favorite, but sometimes it’s nice to look like your soul isn’t covered in ice. This past fall, I’ve been seeking out camel colored clothing as my go-to color for complementing other shades. Camel colored booties, purses, front button skirts–you name it. The shade was one of my favorite colors that trended in 2015. New Orleans had such a strange winter that you couldn’t stick to just one color scheme for a winter look. I had to incorporate styles and colors seen in seasons like spring or early fall. (Remember all white after Labor Day?) When our trees are still green, but it’s December…why not dress like it’s still spring?

Fashionista haven H&M jumped on the bandwagon early with the camel craze. Being an avid shopper, I was lucky enough to notice their new arrivals. I scored a front button skirt (super popular right now, I’ve seen that type of skirt ALL over, and not just in camel) and a pair of booties, both in the sacred color.

*I have to add, on a personal note, that the booties are awesome. I’ve got the flattest feet ever and heels are my own worst enemy, but these shoes are perfect. They give me enough arch support that I’m not crying an hour later wishing I had worn other shoes. So, if you’re interested…get them here!*

They paired well with jeans or a simple, off-the-shoulder top. (Anything goes well with off-the-shoulder tops, if you ask me. But don’t ask my grandmother. She said it was horrid, like most of the trends seen today.) I felt that the color really adds a nice touch that’s soft and sweet, unlike black or a dark brown that is a common color seen in the winter.

The skirt is a lighter shade of camel than the booties, and I appreciated that difference. I’m usually picky with wanting my shades to match, but this meant that eyes were directed towards the lighter shade instead of going directly down to my feet and completely missing the outfit. The skirt acts as a focal point and the shoes make that point end nicely.

Unlike burgundy, I’m definitely not ready for this trend to end. While you can’t dye your hair in a camel shade (nah, you probably can), you can wear it in just about any piece of clothing or accessory possible. I even found the most amazing purse at Forever 21 in a camel shade (see it here!) and so it’s safe to say that camel is going to be a color I truly embrace…even if it is 2016.

What about you? Are you on my grandmother’s side or are you ready to embrace camel colors in your wardrobe?

Xoxo,

Olivia

New Orleans Will Have A White Christmas

I’ve been bad. No, seriously. I have. I’ve gone against the fashion rule that I have so strongly stood by for years. I’ve muttered under my breath (or out loud, for that matter) “You can’t wear white after Labor Day!”. Yet, here I am, wearing white. Momentarily, at least. Santa may as well skip my… Continue reading New Orleans Will Have A White Christmas

Brunchin’ and Munchin’ and Stylin’

It’s finally cold here in New Orleans, meaning it’s about 65-70 degrees here during the day. As we all rejoice to pull out our long sweaters, scarves, and boots (yeah, we’re prematurely excited), the fashion heats up as the days get cold. I personally love colder weather because I feel my wardrobe is most equipped… Continue reading Brunchin’ and Munchin’ and Stylin’
